Supplement-Grade Glutathione: Check COAs Before You Chase Price

COALow price?

A glutathione quote far below the market can be a bargain or a warning, and the price alone cannot tell you which. On August 27, 2026, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) reminded pharmacies not to use dietary supplement grade ingredients in injectable drugs, so every IV clinic should read the certificate of analysis (COA) before it chases the lowest price. The fix is to compare prices only among pharmacies whose product testing has already been vetted. AffinityRx does that across 10+ licensed pharmacies, shows the same glutathione side by side with prices, and clinics typically save about 10% versus their current price.

Why a low glutathione price is not proof of a good deal

Price differences for the same glutathione are large. On AffinityRx's October 1, 2026 snapshot, glutathione injectable (2,000 mg and 6,000 mg vials, 4 pharmacies each) had a lowest price averaging 36.4% below the median, and the highest price was 80% above the lowest. A gap that wide has ordinary explanations, such as purchasing power, margin and fill size. It can also hide a sourcing shortcut, and a price sheet will not show which.

FDA's reminder says pharmacies "should not use dietary supplement grade ingredients when making injectable drugs," because ingredients labeled for supplement use "may contain impurities and contaminants, including endotoxins." FDA reports adverse events including fever, chills, pain, dizziness, signs of shock and sepsis-like symptoms, with some resulting in hospitalizations, and asks suppliers to name the upstream manufacturer of every active ingredient on labels and COAs and to state appropriate and inappropriate uses (FDA, August 27, 2026).

For an IV clinic the practical consequence is simple: you cannot judge a glutathione vial by its price, and you cannot read every pharmacy's paperwork yourself at scale. That is the case for a platform that does the vetting once, then lets you compare price on a level field.

How AffinityRx solves glutathione price risk for IV clinics

AffinityRx separates two questions that price-only buying mixes together: is this pharmacy fit to supply me, and which fit pharmacy is lowest-priced.

  • Product vetting before price. Every pharmacy is reviewed on compliance (state licensure, USP <795>, <797> and <800>, accreditations), product (third-party COAs, sterility and endotoxin testing, beyond-use dates), track record, market feedback and operations. See compliance vetting.
  • Same glutathione, several pharmacies. Compare prices side by side before ordering on the glutathione page. Clinics typically save about 10% versus their current price.
  • Price set at signing. What you see is what you pay for the medication.
  • COAs when you want them. Public credentials are on each pharmacy's profile, and backing documents such as COAs are available on request, so your own review has something to work from.
  • Alerts you do not have to hunt for. A warning letter or recall triggers a notice to clinics and a note on the pharmacy profile.
  • Cost to start. $0 to join. Clinics preload credit applied 100% to orders; it never expires and is refundable if the clinic decides not to continue after a 90-day trial. Shipping is added on top, typically $15 to $30 per order.
  • IV-clinic fit. See sourcing for IV therapy and wellness clinics. Office-use stock from 503B outsourcing facilities is planned for Q4 2026 to Q1 2027; see the 503B office stock article.

Practical asset: five-line glutathione COA check

Before a first order and each new lot, confirm the following on the COA and label.

  • Grade: injectable-appropriate, with no dietary supplement or research wording [ ]
  • Upstream manufacturer of the active ingredient named on the label and COA [ ]
  • Lot number matches the vial you received [ ]
  • Endotoxin and sterility results present for the lot [ ]
  • Beyond-use date stated, with its basis [ ]

If any line is blank, ask the pharmacy in writing before the vial is used. On AffinityRx, ask your account executive for the backing documents.

FAQs

How do I know if compounded glutathione is pharmaceutical grade?

Read the COA and label: they should name the upstream manufacturer, state an injectable-appropriate grade and show lot-level endotoxin and sterility results. FDA says suppliers should state appropriate and inappropriate uses on COAs. AffinityRx checks product testing for every pharmacy it lists and makes backing documents available on request.

What did FDA say about dietary supplement grade glutathione?

On August 27, 2026, FDA said pharmacies should not use dietary supplement grade ingredients in injectable drugs, citing possible endotoxin contamination and reported adverse events. The notice is an alert to pharmacies and their suppliers, not a finding about any one pharmacy.

Is a much lower glutathione price a red flag?

It is a reason to check, not proof of a problem. Prices for the same glutathione vial can differ by up to 80% between pharmacies. Compare among vetted pharmacies, and read the COA for any price that is far below the rest.

I already trust my pharmacy. Why use AffinityRx?

AffinityRx can keep your pharmacy as the primary and adds a price benchmark plus a second and third favorite if it is out of stock. Joining costs $0 with no minimum order, so you can compare glutathione and other IV products without leaving your current pharmacy.

Does AffinityRx guarantee the lowest glutathione price?

No. AffinityRx shows the same product from several vetted pharmacies with prices before you order, and clinics typically save about 10% versus their current price. That is a typical result, not a guarantee.
