Why compounded medication shipments arrive late

A late shipment is usually a pharmacy-side delay that a clinic cannot see until a patient asks where the medication is. Buyers describe a promised 48-hour window that slips, orders placed late in the week that leave the following Monday, and scripts that sit with a pharmacy for days before they ship. For a telehealth brand, a late refill is a support ticket and, often, a cancelled subscription.

Three things decide the delivery date:

• Pharmacy turnaround: the time between the pharmacy receiving the order and handing it to the carrier. It ranges from about 1 day to 5 days depending on the pharmacy.
• Shipping service: overnight or 2-day, chosen per order.
• Cold chain: GLP-1s and other temperature-sensitive items need the right packaging and service, or the shipment is at risk even if it arrives on time.

A clinic with one pharmacy accepts that pharmacy's turnaround for every script. A clinic with several pharmacies has to log into each portal to compare them, which is slow enough that many skip it.

1. See turnaround first. Each pharmacy's turnaround is shown per pharmacy before you order. Choose the fastest pharmacy for time-sensitive refills, or the lowest price when speed is not the issue.
2. Pick the service. Overnight and 2-day are available. The recommended shipping option is preset for each SKU, and the clinic can change it.
3. Cold chain is built in. GLP-1s and other temperature-sensitive items carry a cold-chain option as the preset, so ordering staff do not have to remember which items need it.
4. Address validation. AffinityRx validates that the shipping address is deliverable, not only that the ZIP format is valid.
5. Shipping is added on top, typically $15 to $30 per order. There is no subscription, no per-order fee and no minimum order, and the card is charged only after the pharmacy approves the order. 7. Failover for stockouts. If the primary pharmacy is out of stock or rejects an order, it moves to the next favorite automatically, so a stockout does not turn into a late delivery.
